You might possibly remember when I was deeply immersed in my passionate love for "Gilmore Girls" and completely wasted my time and had some serious withdrawal when I finished watching them. Good times.
And now I get to experience them again. Because...and you are not going to BELIEVE this...Tom and I are watching them together. Truly a DVD viewing miracle.
It all started when we began watching "Everwood" on DVD from Netflix. Netflix had suggested this series after it saw what we were watching and because what Netflix commands, we must do, I ordered the first season. My reaction was basically "Meh" but Tom LOVED the show. LOVED IT. So we watched. And the more we watched, the more I though, huh. Everwood is a lot like Star's Hollow. And this show is a WHOLE LOT like "Gilmore Girls" in many, many ways. The small town. The interpersonal relationships. The love stories. The friendships. Hey. I wonder if Tom might actually like..."Gilmore Girls".
So he agreed to give it a try. And we ordered the first season. And we put on the first episode and I sat back in my chair and waited to see his reaction. The first time he laughed out loud, I knew I was in. I was going to get to watch one of my favorite shows again. And even though I already know what happens with all the characters?
I'm going to enjoy it just as much the second time.

OK. I'm A Little Bummed
So I just finished the last DVD of the last season of "Gilmore Girls". It was seriously SO GOOD. If you have not watched this, immediately go to Netflix and sign up for it. I'll wait.
Did you do it? OK. You'll have to let me know what you think. Because I am so serious. It is SO GOOD. But the only thing is. Now I MISS those people. I MISS Stars Hollow and learning the minutiae of their everyday lives. I want to know what happened with Lorelei and Luke? Surely they got married, right? And what about Logan? Does he come back for Rory?
Yes, I realize these are not actually for real people. But...they SEEM so real.
It is completely different watching a TV series on DVD than it is watching it weekly on TV. With no commercials and the ability to watch one show right after the other, you find yourself totally immersed in these people's lives. And. You MISS them.
So. I guess I need something else to watch. Some new friends. Some new places.
Just give me a minute. One minute. To move on.

I Had A VERY Productive Day
We had a snow day last week. Actually, to be technical, an ice day. I decided I would make use of the free time at home to be really productive. To get some things done. To clean. To organize. To work on my Ebay sales. Right after I went back to bed for a couple of hours.
OK. Good to go! NOW I'm going to be productive. Do some laundry. Clean the kitchen. Organize my closets. Clean the bathrooms.
And then the mail came. And I had two DVDs from Netflix. The last two DVDs of the last season of "Gilmore Girls". You KNOW I had to find out how it ended. So. My day was not TECHNICALLY that productive.
Unless you count lying in bed in my sleeping pants, eating tomato soup with Ritz crackers crumbled up in it (the FOOD OF THE GODS. And please. Let's not have another Pop-Tart with butter debacle here. Surely everyone eats their tomato soup this way) and watching "Gilmore Girls" as being productive.
If you count that. I was TOTALLY PRODUCTIVE.

Crack For Dieters
Do you like malted milk balls? Like the crunch of candy that leads to the goodness of sweet heaven inside? Then, oh good golly, you will like these. They don't TASTE like malted milk, they taste like chocolate chips cookies. Covered with candy. With candy. Are you getting the concept here?
I may have gone back and got another package. I may have eaten a couple more packages after my nap, during which I fell asleep so hard that I had that jerking twitch you do when you feel like you are falling. You know? So, really. The whole 100-calorie concept was kind of lost on me. Because I ate like 600-calories worth. I think they have a little crack in them.

Gilmore Girls Has Stolen My Couth
I am very well groomed. Honestly I am. For God's sake, I wrote an entire post about choosing one outfit. But I have become obsessed with "Gilmore Girls". Obsessed, I tell you. I come home from work and when I find a Netflix DVD in the mailbox, I am gleeful. GLEEFUL, I tell you. I put on my sleeping pants and a loose top and socks and crawl into bed. Socks! I haven't worn socks to lounge around in since...well, since high school. When my parents kept the house so friggin' cold that I had to wear knee socks to bed. It was such a shock when I went to college and realized it was actually warm enough in the dorm to sleep in my bare feet. Quite lovely, it was.
But somehow socks just seem to go with the whole slob image I have going on when I am in "Gilmore Girls" mode. My hair is sticking up everywhere, I have no makeup on and I'm pretty sure there are some cookie crumbs in the sheets. I have NO IDEA how those got there. I actually got a bowl of cereal with milk and ATE IT IN BED last night while in my sleeping pants. It was granola with raisins. It was healthy. Hey. Don't judge me. But I'm sure it was quite a picture. All in all, it's a damn fabulous experience.
I have no more couth. "Gilmore Girls" has stolen it all.
And. For those of you who love "Gilmore Girls" as I do? You will totally appreciate this video.

Huh. You Really CAN Find Anything On the Internet
Tom came back in the bedroom while I was curled up in bed watching an episode of Gilmore Girls. No, he has not become an aficionado; he was just visiting. There was a scene where one of the characters was tying her dad's tie because she had printed out the directions from the Internet and she noted that you can find anything on the Internet. "That's true", Tom commented from his position with his head in my lap, having his hair stroked. Really, why would I need a dog?
Well, it's true. You truly can find anything on the Internet. Have you seen this site about reuniting lost gloves? You know how you lose that one glove? And you can never find the other one? Well, now you can find that precious lost glove. At least, you can if you live in Pittsburgh. But they are planning sites for other cities as well. I'm a little cynical about this site since they actually have a link for "Media Inquiries". But it was a clever idea. Very clever. They are planning a book, for God's sake. Why can't I think of stuff like that?
Maybe a lost sock site? Lost earring? Throw me a bone here.

TV Is A Major Force In Our Lives - A FORCE..
...It must be handled very carefully, both its censure and its artistic honesty. - Bill Bixby
And you know you can take that quote seriously, because Bill Bixby was The Hulk. Not a man to be trifled with.
TV really is a major force at our house. We take it very seriously and handle it very carefully. And can I just say? I heart DVR. How did we manage before DVR? Seriously. Although, I have to be honest and say that TV viewing at our house may be slightly out of control.
For example.
The other night I came home from dinner out with friends, all excited because I could put on my pajamas and watch my DVD of the first season of "Gilmore Girls". But no. We had the DVR set to record two shows downstairs and you can't watch and record at the same time, unless you are watching one of those channels. And Tom wanted to watch a ball game. So he had to come upstairs. So I couldn't watch Gilmore Girls. So, what did I do? Did I get out a good book? Did I go and exercise?
I'm snorting with laughter here.
No.
We unhooked the DVD player and hooked it up to the TV in the bedroom.
So.
We were recording two shows downstairs.
Tom was watching the ball game upstairs.
And I was watching "Gilmore Girls" in the bedroom.
I seriously think we win the TV Geeks of the Year award.

Tofu And A Good Book
Random thoughts on this lovely Monday morning.
- I finally got around to doing some reading this weekend. It seems like all we have been doing is watching DVDs and, when I have time to read, I have been working my way through the pile of magazines I need to read so I can give them to Vicki! Anyway, I read the BEST book! It's called "Life on the Refrigerator Door", by Alice Kuipers and it's sweet and funny and moving and sad. It's composed of notes left by a mother and her daughter on their refrigerator. Very clever and well-done. I think you would like it. Here, just click on it and you can read all about it.

- And speaking of watching DVDs. Why did NO ONE TELL ME how good Gilmore Girls really was? This show is GREAT! I wasn't sure when I watched the first couple of episodes, but now I'm heavily into this show and it so good, so funny, so heart-warming, so...so...so good! And, also? I love Netflix. Without buying hundreds of dollars worth of DVDs, how else could I catch up on all these shows I missed? It just makes me wonder how many other good shows I have missed. So much TV, so little time.
- OK, so who else cooks with tofu? Come on, let me see those hands in the air. Yeah, me either. But I've been reading a lot about soy and women lately and how good for us it is and I decided to take the plunge and try cooking and eating some tofu. And, who knew? It's really good!! I made this southwest chicken salad last night. I mixed up a small can of corn, a can of black beans and some fresh chopped tomato, then sprinkled in a little taco seasoning and spooned that on some lettuce. Then I fried up some firm cubes of tofu and sprinkled them on the salad and drizzled on some Southwest Ranch dressing. DELICIOUS! They say tofu is really pretty tasteless, so it takes on the flavor of whatever you mix it with and that was the case here. The texture was really nice and kind of faked my brain into thinking I was eating chicken. I have some left over, so I think I'm going to try it with some stir fry.
- I'm going to have a weekend getaway and am very excited about it. But I think it warrants a whole blog post - so more tomorrow. Tune in.

Just ONE More Minute
Where does the evening go? Seriously. I normally get home from school between 4 and 5 and we start the evening's television viewing at about 7. At some point in there, I have to cook dinner but we eat that and watch TV (yes, I know - shame! But, hey, it's just the two of us.) so that doesn't consume that much time. Time passes, we watch some TV and it's time for bed. I can't imagine where the time goes.
Well.
There is the computer.
First, I have to check the family blogs. Since we are rather a wordy bunch, we ALL have blogs. And I mean wordy. If you are a stranger who is hanging with any number of us, your head will whip back and forth between the conversations like you are watching a ping-pong match. And forget trying to get a word in edgewise unless you talk very fast or say something very interesting. And you better say it loud.
Then I check my favorite blogs. I try to cut back and only check on a few but then I get interested. OK, just one more. Wait. Those are just the CUTEST boots. I need to click over and order those. OK, I'm absolutely stopping with one more.
I also have to check my Ebay sales and my personal email and see if anyone has paid for anything, if I need to relist anything, etc. Then possibly just one more blog. And the time is passing quickly and I really wanted to finish reading that magazine or start that book or finish watching the pilot of "Gilmore Girls" which, incidentally? I'm not that impressed so far. But I'll keep trying because so many people are so ga-ga over that show. And I'll never forget how I almost gave up on "Buffy" because the first few episodes were lame and campy but then it got better and better and better until, OH MY GOD, that was a good show. So, I'll stick with it. If I can just find the time to watch it.
Just one blog. I'm going to get up in just a minute. OK, that's it. Seriously. I'm stopping right
