"I Love Trash"

Well. I don't exactly LOVE trash, but I am pretty darn excited about my new trash can. I mentioned my new trash can purchase as an addendum to my post about a rather unexciting shopping trip and now I feel a little guilty because THE LOVE I feel for my trash can should be extolled in a post all of its own. So here is that post.

I LOVE my trash can.

It's so new. So shiny. So. Totally. Fabulous. For years - seriously, YEARS. At least...um...15?...no really. I had a kind of beige plastic trash with a lid that flipped up. Perfectly acceptable. But I really wanted a nice stainless steel one. What I didn't realize I wanted until I actually owned it is a trash can with a lid you can flip up with one touch of your foot. Hands full of trash? No problem! Flip the lid with your foot! Hands all covered with meat loaf fixings? No problem! Flip the lid with your foot! Hands...well, you get the idea.

So, I just cooked dinner and flipped the lid on my trash can several times and then I realized I just had to share the fabulousness that is my new trash can with you. So? The fact that I have a new trash can that I love?

Is totally fabulous.

The fact that I am this excited about a trash can?

Is a little disconcerting.

So, if you need a little excitement in your life? You can get one here. Just like mine. And you can also listen to the "I Love Trash" song here.

In fact. You COULD listen to the song WHILE putting trash in your trashcan.

If you are COMPLETELY wild and crazy like me.

Try It Tuesday: Tuesday Morning

Welcome to Try It Tuesday! If you have shopped and tried something fabulous lately, write a post about it and sign Mr. Linky below. Thanks for sharing!

Tuesday Morning is a store which purchases first quality, close out merchandise and then sells it on an event basis, which usually begin on...wait for it...Tuesday morning. You can get on their mailing list and get flyers about what they will have for sale. Some of the stores stay open most of the time; some open only for the events.

It had been years since I had been to Tuesday Morning but, when my sister was in town a couple of months ago, she wanted to pay a visit so I tagged along. And I found some of the CUTEST things. I totally need to visit that store more often.

Look at my new welcome mat! With my shadow in the photograph because I was so excited to take the photograph. I didn't want to wait until the sun was on the other side of the house. I am SUCH a professional.

But this is my favorite thing I bought. Look how cute! Polka dots!

And it looks even better with snacks on it for a party.

I also found books and toys for my grandson at ridiculously low prices. The snack dish above was marked $9.99 but was actually $1.99 because it was on sale. Great prices! If you have a Tuesday Morning near you, check it out. And let me know what you find!

Now, sign Mr. Linky and let us know what wonderful things you have purchased lately.

The Olympics Are A Little...Boring

OK. Yeah, I said it. I guess I am the only person in the entire United States...wait, the Olympics are the whole world..OK, I am the only person in the ENTIRE WORLD who finds the Olympics stultifyingly (is too a word, spellchecker. or should be.) boring. I must be, because everyone is talking about how they are watching the Olympics for hour after hour after (yawn) hour and some are even DVRing the events so they won't miss any. DVRing, people.

Please. Heaven forbid you should miss...well, I almost mentioned one of the sports but then I'll get an email from someone whose sister is an avid some-sort-of-ball athlete who pulled herself out of a life of poverty with her mad skilz, so I won't mention any of the mind-numbingly boring events cough*synchronizeddiving*cough.

Now, before you get all up in my face, let me say that I have watched the Olympics. I watched almost the entire opening ceremony. And, like, when do you think those people started practicing for that thing? The day they announced Beijing was the site? Because, man. They had DONE SOME PRACTICING.

And I know that it's the pinnacle of success for an athlete and it's all about the athletes bonding and can't everyone just get along and I know there are inspiring stories coming out every day and I do admire that woman who is a swimmer who is in her 40's and has a 2-year old but still. It's booooooring.

So, here is what I have decided.

I have a new sport to propose to the Olympic committee.

Shopping.

I could TOTALLY win a gold medal at this. We could have the eliminations at the mall and you would have to find an item marked at least 50% off and you would get extra points if it was an additional 25% off JUST THAT DAY. Speed, of course, would be an issue so you would get extra points for finding a bathing suit that actually fits and looks good but is on sale BEFORE THE FOURTH OF JULY. In 30 minutes or less. Bonus points if it looks good even without one of those little skirts.

You would get more points for finding a perfect pair of ruby colored slides to match that dress you got for 50% off - points would be lost for trying to pass off a crimson pair.

More points for finding sleeping pants that fit, look cute and DON'T SHRINK IN THE WASHER. Even more points for finding a halter dress that looks good but does not smoosh the back fat into unattractive rolls.

These are important skills, people. Much more important than wearing a bikini to stand in the sand and hit a ball over a net.

And now I have angered all the beach volleyball fans.

Bring it on. I challenge you to find the last hot pink pair of capris in the store in your size ON CLEARANCE.

You would be LUCKY to get a bronze.

Just Watch Me

There are some members of my family who know about the strange and wonderful fascination I have with watches. My nieces and my daughter ridiculed me endlessly on our cruise because, more than the snorkeling and the fabulous views and the unending supply of food, I was excited about the $10 watches they had in the gift shop. I still have some of those watches. And I still LOVE them.

I like a big watch face that is easy to read (because I am frakin' blind) and I love pretty and different bands.

So, you can imagine how excited I was the other day in Kohl's when I was standing in line behind this woman and she whipped this out of her basket to purchase.

With an incredible amount of restraint; without causing a scene or even shrieking with excitement, I stepped out of line and went back to the jewelry department. And bought myself the same thing.

It's a WATCH. With DIFFERENT BANDS. How COOL is that?

So, now I have to choose which shoes I will wear each day.

And which watch band.

Life is HARD.

No Sweaters

I went shopping yesterday. I actually just had a few errands to run, returning and exchanging a couple of items, and having lunch out for a little treat. I only had one rule for myself. Absolutely, positively, no kidding, was I allowed to buy any sweaters. I have what some might consider an excessive number of sweaters.
But what is excessive, really?

To some people a dozen sweaters might seem excessive. To others...well, perhaps it's better if I don't put down exactly how many sweaters I have. I wouldn't want to give Tom cause to faint dead away in his office chair as he reads this. And I might just possibly have sweaters in similar colors that are almost identical - but not quite. Like my two light purple ones. They are cable knit turtlenecks but one is a slightly different color of purple. Completely different really. Completely.

So. No sweaters.
Well. I might, just possibly, have purchased a sweater. OK. Two. Oh, all right. For God's sake, you are a nag. Three. That's absolutely it. Just three. One might have been a black turtleneck when I actually already technically have a black turtleneck. But it does not have a cable knit design. And it was not only $10.13 ON SALE. And this one could totally be a fall back sweater. Like, what if that one gets a snag? Or is in a suitcase that gets lost? What would I do then? I would have NO BLACK SWEATER. Yeah. I see you have no answer to that. It's exactly like this one, in case you are interested in purchasing one for yourself.

And the other two? Well, I had just picked up some light blue corduroy pants at the dry cleaners and was walking through Penney's and mulling over the fact that I had no sweater that matched those pants perfectly when, LIKE A MIRACLE, I saw this sweater on the rack. At that EXACT MOMENT. Or sometime close to then. I'm sure it was the same day I was thinking about those pants. Anyway. It's a really interesting, loosely woven sweater that kind of looks like someone made it by hand. It was on sale for $13.50. So, of course I had to get the peach and gray one too. You know you would have too.

Aren't they CUTE?

And look HOW GREAT it matches the pants?

Now that I am thinking about this, these sweaters are really good investments. I mean, I can wear them all winter. And next winter too. Great investments. And the way the stock market is doing lately? This may be the best investments I've made lately.
